1930s Cissy Dress - Hydrangea Georgette
Oh Cissy...how we love thee...you are a vision of deco flora on a hazy summer's evening - like you've strolled right out of a 1930s garden party. Our brand new style, Our brand new style, Cissy is a most feminine display - made in floaty georgette, inspired by the frothy floral chiffon styles worn by ladies of the .
Modelled on our best selling - Cissy also makes use of the bias cut so that she moulds around the body creating a most flattering shape." However, it's the super 1930s styling details we love... the shirring and gathers under the bust, the belt with art deco clasp in pistachio green, and the tiered draped neckline feature inspired by an original. This means top arm covered with no set in sleeve - perfect for hot days or busy evenings. TheΒ (fabric cut at a 45-degree angle rather than straight) is what gives Cissy her soft, body-moulding drape without any stretch fabric.Β
The fabric was specially sourced and is a close to original rayons as we could find - it's soft, semi sheer and floaty and in our brand new hydrangea print.Β
We recommend a slip - particularly our which you can select.
Key 1930s features include:-
- tiered neckline
- under bust shirring
- bias skirt
- Β sash belt with art deco clasp
- low calf length - approx 87 cms from natural waistΒ (NB: this will change depending on your own shape due to the bias nature of the garment)
Dry clean or cold hand wash - MUST dry flat due to bias panels.
Fabric outer: 100% viscose crepe georgette.

Made with love in Yorkshire, England
What is a bias cut dress?
A bias cut dress is cut with the fabric grain running diagonally rather than straight, allowing it to stretch and drape naturally around the body; a hallmark of 1930s eveningwear design pioneered by designers like Madeleine Vionnet.
Does the Cissy dress come with a slip?
No slip is included as standard, but a silk-blend luxe slip (our Sirocco style) can be added - recommended due to the semi-sheer georgette fabric.
Why does the Cissy dress need to dry flat?
Because of the bias-cut panels, hanging the dress wet can cause it to stretch unevenly, so it should always be dried flat.
What's the difference between Cissy and the Loretta dress?
Cissy is modelled on the bestselling Loretta dress and shares its bias-cut silhouette, with added 1930s details - a tiered draped neckline, under-bust shirring and an Art Deco clasp sash belt.
